The Cartwright Recuperative Clinic is a private medical recovery facility. It was founded in 1997 by Dr. Edmund Bishop, after he retired from active service with the Navy as a medical officer. The facility's care is focused on veterans' issues, including those with combat injuries and mental issues.

Cartwright RC is a medium-care facility, intended for those who need round-the-clock care for weeks or months. Though the facility is a private one and not attached to the VA system or government, it does maintain one-fifth of its beds for the care of veterans in need of extensive care who cannot afford it, offering beds and care for free.
