The Great Council of Dorrin

After the forming of the great houses, the founders in their wisdom designed a political structure that could change enough over time to reflect the will of the people. To each house was elected (by house vote) a Chair and Vice-Chair, who would step into the position of Chair if the Chair died or abdicated their position, as well as aid the House Chair in all their endeavors. These Chairs would take the title of Lord while in office, and remain in office for 10 years--at which time anyone of a given house could run for either Chair or Vice-Chair.

It should come as no surprise that each of the founders was voted into the position of Chair, and their best right-hand helpers into the positions of Vice-Chair. Since the founders have passed onto the pages of history, others have taken their place--some of similar names and others.

The council was designed to keep the peace, and make decisions in reflection of the will of their given house; the will of the people or Dorrin. To keep things fair and equal it was decided that a High Chancellor would be elected to office and remain in office for only two years; with no one being able to have more than one term in office as High Chancellor. This position would serve as tie-breaker and voice-of-the-people--to provide another "check" to ensure a peaceful and democratic society.
