Personality Traits: Finds the idea of cooking meat offensive. Never feels like he fully fits in, as a human or feline. Romanticizes Wa and Kara-Tur. Ideals: Adventure! Life is a grand adventure that must be experienced! Bonds: Renja will fiercely protect the other cats on the ship, considering them more of a family than the humanoids on the ship. Flaws: Renja thinks the idea of worshiping gods or spirits to be foolish and has mild contempt for religion. |
Background Renja (not his real name or course, these barbaric westerners would mangle it with their clumsy tongues(Ryuunosuke 隆之介)) did not come aboard the ship voluntarily, he was in fact abducted. Whisked away from his family, torn the country he loved, wronged by the oafish westerners. At the tender age of 6 months he was fully aware that he was a Hengeyokai. More specifically he knew his lineage as a Bakeneko. As he was not a full year grown yet, he had an advantage over older Bakeneko in that he did not display any of the traits that marked his people as different yet, unfortunately that also meant he could not shift out of his animal form yet either. On the most unfortunate day that he was abducted and impressed into service as a ship's cat, he had decided to explore the docks of Uwaji with a few kittens, blending in with the locals and such. Unaware of the barbaric custom of snatching up poor unsuspecting kittens and forcing them to live on boats, he was unprepared when he and a few of the other kittens were swooped up by the malformed tengu (Skeksil) and carried off to his ship. |
Description
Age: 4
- Human
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 185 lbs.
Physical Description: Average height and wiry muscled. In his human form Renja looks like an adult human from the country of Wa, with a couple notable exceptions. First off, his hair is silver gray with streaks of black in it. At first glance his green eyes appear to be cat-like, but they do not have the same iris shape as a cat. - Hybrid
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 195 lbs.
Physical Description: Average adult height human covered in silvery gray fur striped like a Bengal cat. His muscles no longer appear wiry, but have the sleekness and power of a large cat. He still looks very much human in build, except he now has a feline face and head. His fingertips are darker than his fingers, and his nails are harder and seem to come to a blunt point. His green eyes are fully cat-like in this form. - Cat
Height: 12.5"
Weight: 15 lbs.
Physical Description: A very healthy member of the feline species, sleek and fast, he looks like a silver Bengal cat in this form. If it wasn't for the two tails and knowing look in his eyes, he could be mistaken for any other ship cat. Perhaps better fed than most.

A rectangular metal device with two tiny metal cups on one end that throws sparks when wet
On a particularly boring bounty hunt he had been contracted for, Renja was stalking a minor noble's son who had disappeared from his family estate. Most of the locals knew that the son was a lecherous brat and couldn't be roused to help the lord, so he had to contract the ship's captain to get help bringing his son back home. Renja had tracked the lech to a flourishing brothel along the highway not far out of town. Not feeling like surrounding himself with that kind of sneeze inducting odors, Renja decided to wait for the gigolo to get done slightly down the road within sight of the house of ill repute. Luck was not with him on this evening, as it started raining while he was waiting for the cad. Around the time Selûne should have been high in the sky, although she was obscured by storm clouds, Renja began hearing faint lightning sounds from nearby, or sparking. While not unusual in a storm, this sound was coming from the ground near him and not the sky. Following the sounds of faint crackling Renja discovered a small rectangular box, about the size of his palm, with two tiny cups at the end. The cups were what were making the crackling noise, as drops of rain would hit the cups they would spark electricity. Fascinated Renja scooped up the box and was going to examine it more when the lascivious lordling emerged from the den of iniquity, requiring him to finish his contract. He tucked the box into his pack and forgot all about it until he was unpacking his gear again on the ship. There he discovered that he could mix up his hunting game with the box, causing mild jolts to his stalking victims to accompany his outbursts. (He caught the lordling and delivered him to his father like a trussed up pig, in case you are curious.)

Forms
Change Form You can transform to your Human Form, or Animal Form. Your Hybrid Form is considered your "true" form in which you have a humanoid body but the face of your animal. You can revert to your true form at will. Each form has a set appearance based on the individual (a hengeyokai cannot choose to take the shape or form of another person or animal in order to disguise himself).
