Harper Entanglements

  • Harper Entanglements are the problems that sometimes crop up when one is a Harper in association with others.
  • Anything from suspicion of treachery or being a double-agent to enemies seeking one group of Harpers finding the cell instead to old vendettas against the Harpers as whole coming home to roost.
  • On a successful Harper Entanglements percentage check, a group of Harpers or their enemies take notice of the cell and make life difficult for them.
    • For every 5 full percentage points below the percentage required, the problem is more complicated (and dangerous, usually).
    • This is usually a short mission of some kind, although it may simply be resolved through roleplaying or the expenditure of resources, depending on its nature.
    • Successfully helping to resolve the issue earns the cell 1 point of Watcher Investment.
    • Failure to help resolve results in the loss of 1d4 Investment from the Connections trait, as well as the loss of 1 point of Allies trait (as those associated with the Harpers distance themselves from the ugly mess in question).

Watcher Concerns

  • Watchers receive two things for their efforts on behalf of the Harpers: coin and the knowledge that the Harpers are allies willing to aid them in extraordinary circumstances.
  • On a successful Watcher Concerns percentage check, a Watcher or small group of Watchers need some assistance from the Harpers during the month.
    • For every 5 full percentage points below the percentage required, one additional task is requested.
    • This is usually a short mission of some kind, although it may simply be resolved through roleplaying or the expenditure of resources, depending on its nature.
    • Success on the task earns the cell 1 point of Watcher Investment.
    • Failure to assist results in the loss of 1d4 Investment from the Watchers trait, as well as the loss of 1 point of Connections trait (as the Harpers do not like to hear of their own spurning the needs of the faction's Watchers). Double this loss if the cell simply refuses to aid.
