You wield the Art defensively, crafting wards, protections, shields and defenses from the powers of magic. Though a rarer discipline than that of evocation, illusion or a handful of others, the study of abjuration makes for a mighty mage indeed, frequently able to negate, ignore or simply resist the attacks of those who face him.
 
 
 
Abjurers are often found defending important personages, or even entire cities, lending their potent talents of protection to those who have the most need of it. They may do so out of a desire to preserve, or simply out of mercenary ambition.

===Abjurer's Shield===
 
Starting at 5th level you always have the ''shield'' spell prepared, and it doesn't count against the number of spells you can prepare. When casting ''shield'', you may also choose a single damage type (bludgeoning, piercing, slashing, fire, cold, etc). For the duration of that casting of ''shield'', you gain resistance to that kind of damage. This effect does not apply to others if you use Quick Defender to shift the spell onto them. If you don't already know ''shield'', you can now add it to your spellbook.
 
===Immediate Protection===
 
Starting at 8th level, you may cast any abjuration spell of 3rd level or lower as a reaction by expending one of your unused hit dice. Additionally, you may also use Quick Defender to shift an abjuration spell to an ally within 30 feet, rather than merely those who are adjacent.
 
===Stalwart Abjurations===
 
You may extend the normal duration of your abjurations by casting them with higher level spell slots. When casting an abjuration, for every level above the normal level for that spell it is cast at, double the duration (to a maximum of 24 hours). Additionally, the abjurer does not actually have to concentrate to maintain Concentration duration abjuration spells; he need only remain conscious.
 
===Legendary Defender===
 
You may cast any abjuration spell of 2nd level or higher with an improved function: it grants resistance to any single damage type (chosen when cast) for the duration of the spell's existence. If the spell already grants resistance, you may add another to its function, or upgrade that resistance to an immunity.
 
 
 
Additionally, any time you are about to be struck by a spell, you may use a reaction to sacrifice an abjuration (of at least 3rd level) that is currently active on you in order to dispel the incoming magic. If the spell you sacrifice is 3rd to 5th level, the incoming spell is treated as though dispelled with a ''dispel magic''. If the spell you sacrifice is 6th level or higher, it is considered a ''greater dispel magic''.
