Passage to Ylistaloré • The Queen's Favor • Winter Knighthood

She is lovely beyond reckoning and lures mortals away to her frozen palace in Ylistaloré, the eladrin city that appears in Silvershield Vale only on nights of the full moon. The Queen of Frost herself can and does appear at any time in the snowy mountains or when winter touches the Vale, and many a mortal has made pacts with her, or one of her Winter Knights on her behalf. She seems to be a creature of caprice and whimsy, delicate in beauty like a snowflake, but often deadly like the blizzard.

The Queen of Frost often works through a variety of agents, notably eladrin raised to a knighthood known as the Knights of Winter. She also occasionally dispatches frost-touched fey creatures on her behalf.

Usual Location

The Queen of Frost rarely leaves her palace in Ylistaloré, although she has been known to suddenly appear in the strangest of places, pursuing some caprice or another.

Allies

  • The Queen recognizes the Aeriemaster as the lord of another domain within the cold winds of the Starfrost Mountains, with full diplomatic missions on both sides. There have even been occasions where Knights of Winter show up astride the great eagles of the Last Aerie on some time-sensitive task or other.
  • Though she does not speak of it much, it is known that when dark falls on the nights of the full moon, the tall, strange hooded figures that are known to be the servants of the Vundilan are sometimes waiting for Ylistaloré to appear, and they are permitted entry for whatever their business is.

Enemies

  • For many centuries, there was low-grade conflict between Ylistaloré and the dwarven citadels under the command of the Great Clans. The Queen of Frost has expressed delight at the fall of the Great Clans, even going so far as to send mocking gifts to each of the clans to "congratulate" them on being overthrown in power.
  • There are few things that can bring the Queen of Frost to quite the degree of rage that the Sea Lords can. She considers them deadly enemies, but certain among her court whisper that she also claims that they hold something over her head, preventing her antagonism.

Queen of Frost Token Benefits

  • Passage to Ylistaloré: The most common boon granted by the Queen of Frost is passage into the eladrin city of Ylistaloré, when it appears in the Silvershield Vale on nights of the full moon.
  • The Queen's Favor: Those who wear a delicate rose wrought entirely of never-melting ice are known to bear her favor, and can call upon sudden fey interventions and cold weather manifestations when in peril.
  • Winter Knighthood: Though it is rare that non-eladrin receive this boon, the Queen of Frost has been known to bestow this knighthood upon those she favors, investing them with ice and frost abilities, and the authority to speak on her behalf as an emissary.
